The Velvet Room Boutique
is now accepting applications for a 6-8 week
internship leading to a permanent position on the team. Candidates must
have
specific skills and talents along with the desires to work in a
multi-faceted
company setting new trends in the Canadian Fashion Industry.
This position will suit mature graduate of a fashion marketing, design
or
commutations program or an individual who is seeking a career change
and has a strong interest in the Fashion Industry, both retail and
wholesale
sectors.
The Candidate must have a well rounded background in customer service,
small business, sales or the equivalent education. Excellent computer
skills.
(Experience with excel is preferred, writing; communications and
e-commerce
skills are an asset).
The Intern is required to learn all aspects of the daily operations and
be proficient
in customer service, styling/sales, inventory controls and
administration.
It is the goal of the team that the candidate be interested in secondary
projects ( e-(e-commerce, production and design, media
communications, retail
management ) and be able to assist with in-store events, media and
fashion
events and have the desire to be a continuous learner.
Ideally this position will lead to the candidate working independently
within
the Velvet Room’s environment, becoming a permanent team
member and
assistant to the owner. However, the internship will start off as a
non-paid
learning experience. A commitment of six to eight weeks and a schedule
that
requires the availability of two three hours shifts in the store,
leading to week day and weekend hrs and some project research work
(flexible as to time) is required.
The
candidate must be truly ready to take on a fast paced Internship and
willing to work within the store’s philosophy and style.
