Navy could be the New You!

Always a fan of 'Navy' I am pleased to see the comeback of all shades of blue this spring. Navy, Royal Blue and Periwinkle have been strong colours choices for Spring 2012 as well :)

I often get asked "what do I wear with navy" and the answer is almost everything goes with navy. Even black works well with navy with the exception of very dark navy that appears to the eye to be black. This often simply looks like you miss-matched.Choosing basics that are in any shade of navy can become a platform for some fun and interesting combinations.

Navy teamed up with neutral shades of oatmeal, taupe and grey work wonderfully as do all shades of berry & purple and our favorite basic black. The dress above (Silk Chiffon by Cassie Dee) is the dress I am wearing next week at my son's wedding. I have chosen to team it up with blush shoes, floral wrap scarf with pink, mauve, black and shades of blue and the addition of a black silk purse with a mauve and blush flower pin.

Below are three fun ways to create wonderful looks from navy. First is a simple navy sheath dress (Wanny Tang), teamed up with a "Peacock" theme, bronze, apple green, turquoise and indigo blue. In the middle we have featured a floral silk scarf (To Desire) with a strapless dress (Iris Collection). The accessories are Purple and Mauve. Neutral silver, charcoal or mauve shoes would work well with this combination. The third dress (Serendipity) is created with a "Lily Flower" in mind; Orange, Iris blue and Bronze accessories are featured. (Bronsino leather belt; Davie and Chiyo clutch; Pin by YouLaLaCouture).
